ostaPek®
Solution for spinal surgery, made of anisotropic material consisting of long carbon compound fibres
The purpose of spinal fusion systems is to correct, stabilize as well as stimulate bone formation. For more than 20 years ostaPek®, composed of long carbon fibres (66.6%) in controlled orientation and a PEKEKK matrix (33.3%), has been the alternative to the limitation of metal (titanium and steel) implants.
APPLICATIONS:
- Cervical corpectomy cage
- Lumbar corpectomy cage
- Cage for PLIF, TLIF, ALIF and ELIF approaches
- Vertebrectomy
- Thoracolumbar fixation
- Rear stabilization
- Degenerative scoliosis of the adult patient
CHARACTERISTICS & ADVANTAGES:
- The structure of ostaPek® provides the implant with new properties, such as improved strength and elasticity, which are not typical of either metals or synthetic materials.
- The high flexibility allows the material to maintain the required stability and allows the patient to retain a good degree of torsion.
- The material ostaPek® is osteophilic and fully radiolucent. This allows for better MRI and RX images, reducing the risk of artefacts in subsequent radiographic investigations. It also allows radiotherapy to be performed smoothly.
- Exceptional biocompatibility and the ability to maximize complementary bone graft volume and surface area promote bone fusion.
- Minimal potential for risk of experiencing allergic reactions, commonly associated with nickel or other metals.
