Carbon Fiber System

A complete fixation-fusion platform for open posterior lumbar surgery.
The Coligne system combines polyaxial pedicle screws, carbon composite and titanium rods, that together with PLIF/TLIF carbon fiber reinforced (ostaPek®) interbody cages create a single integrated solution for the surgical treatment of degenerative lumbar spine pathology.
System Overview
- Polyaxial Pedicle Screws, low-profile with tapered thread design for optimized pull-out strength
- Rods in OstaPek® and Titanium alloy, allow the surgeon to select the stiffness profile best suited to the clinical scenario
- TLIF ERRIVA and PLIF Cages: OstaPek® cages designed for both the TLIF and PLIF approaches and to provide broad coverage across lumbar levels

OstaPek® Enabling Technology
OstaPek®is a proprietary long carbon fiber reinforced polymer composite (67% carbon fiber / 33% PEKEKK matrix) developed specifically for spinal implants.
- Bone-alike: Rigidity closer to natural bone reduces stress shielding, promotes physiological load transfer and stimulates remodeling as per Wolff’s Law.
- Physiological-like architecture: Its internal fiber orientation replicates the trabecular structure of bone, thus responding differently depending on the direction of load, coherently with the host tissue.
- Superior fatigue resistance: combining the strength of metal with the advantages of a polymer matrix.
- Intrinsic osteophilicity: No surface coating required, supporting osseointegration and fusion without additional treatment.
- Full radiolucency: completely radiotransparent on X-ray, CT, and MRI, enabling artifact-free postoperative assessment of fusion.
